Data is all around
us but, because it’s not visual,
it’s not
immediately appealing to most people.
PRWEB
My work explores the many unusual ways that data can be
represented, why does a bar chart have to be kept in the confines of a piece of
paper? Generating my own data from mundane and boring activities I elevate the
status of the information to something much more important than it actually is.
Monitoring things such as how often I use my mobile phone something that I seem
to be unable to function without; collecting the data live from my own mobile
and recording it on other devices to be collected at a later date. To anxiety
induced behaviour like clicking my fingernails nails together; meticulously
timed and dated up to every second. Using abnormal materials such as balloons,
cheesecake and mobile phones to express this collected information. Continuing where
artists such as Ellie Harrison and Lucy Kimbell left off I have furthered the
idea of gathering large masses of data and conveying it in unusual ways.
