Attended a talk by well known artist Jordan Baseman, an artist who mainly works with video (Baseman use to work with sculpture but he felt it wasn't right so changed media). He creates portraits using video, interviewing the subject over a couple of days sometimes not knowing what the person is going to talk about. The two videos he showed to us were A Nasty Piece of Stuff and The Dandy Doctrine (A Delightful Illusion), two very different pieces of work showing very different stories. He collects data about a person and produces an informed portrait, while I collect data about myself and produce 'self portraits' using graphs and visual representation of information.
After this talk I had a tutorial session with Baseman, discussing my current work, which direction he thought I should head in and what I was planning for my Degree show. Overall he seemed very excited about my work and wanted to see where it would lead me in the future.
